Since this blog is to capture memories for the kids, I am still playing catch up. Like I said before, my posts are tremendously out of order! I have about 5 years of catching up to do!!! So.......this post is Nicky's birth story and more baby pictures of him.....ENJOY!!!
BIRTH STORY
It all started on July 19th, 2008, Daddy's birthday. I woke up that morning not feeling too good. Unfortunately for me, it was the day of Daddy's annual birthday baseball game. I told him I wasn't feeling good but that he should go anyway. I tried to rest- whatever that means when you have a 3 year old and an 18month old running around!!! I had to try my best though, because Matt, Geno and I were going to a late imax showing of The Dark Knight in Atlantic City. I started having contractions after about 10 minutes into the movie. They were pretty irregular so we ended up sitting through the whole movie.....and believe me when I tell you----it was a very looongggg movie!!! I remember on the drive home, (which was about 12am), yelling at Matt to stop hitting bumps or turning. It was making me have more contractions. This was the most uncomfortable hour and a half ever!!! Anyway, we got home and sent Uncle Andrew and Aunt Tracy home...they were sitting here while Em and Alex slept. Matt asked if I thought they should stay, but we had promised Emily we would take her to Storybook Land the next day, so I wasn't planning on going to the hospital. I don't know what I was thinking because as soon as they left I was in UNBEARABLE pain!!! I finally decided it was time to go to the hospital. Luckily, it's right down the street, because I had to drive myself. Looking back I really should have had an ambulance come. I had to wait in between contractions before I got out of the car to walk in the hospital. So, I waddled along to the entrance, but guess what?? It was closed. I had to get back in the car, wait for contraction, drive to the other side, wait for contraction, enter hospital. I got in and there was another pregnant lady there all calm who had just started contracting. But----they took her first!!! I was the one in pain holding onto the walls and what not! They also never offered me a wheelchair even though I was about to collapse on the floor, lol. After the longest walk ever, I finally made it to labor and delivery where I began to beg for an epidural. The nurse did a check and I was already 8cm dilated and fully effaced. I was not expecting that. They said the dr would be in soon to break my water. After what seemed like forever, he finally came in and broke said water. After pushing for 5 min I seriously felt like I could not go on! I don't know if any of you have ever given birth naturally, but I assure you- IT IS NOT THE WAY TO GO!!! About 10 min later the cutest little guy made his entrance into the world at 3:50am. It was just me, the doctor, and the nurse in the room. I had no family and no epidural!!! I tried calling Daddy a million times to tell him, but he was sleeping!!!! I didn't get to talk to him until 6am!!! I didn't want to wake anyone else up so I sat wide awake anxiously waiting to tell everyone. Daddy finally got to meet his 3rd baby around 9am. Emily and Alex got to meet their baby brother later that day. Hope you enjoyed the story. I tried not to get too graphic, but sorry if I did. Oh and by the way....we did end up taking the kids to Storybook Land that weekend when Nicky was only 4 days old!!! I don't like to break promises to my babies. Well, that about wraps it up. If you were brave enough to get through that excruciatingly long post, you may now enjoy some cute pictures!!!
